Suma Lu and Koby

Hi! Thanks for stopping by! Tonight I have two updates–one on Suma, a pup from this past litter (born in April) and one on Koby, who was from our very first litter (March 2014). Both have turned out so well and I’m so happy that their owners have kept in touch and continue to keep me posted with pictures and updates. So, to begin with Koby!

Koby was the last puppy to be sold in the first litter we had–and I’m so glad we were able to hold onto him for as long as we did because he has found the perfect home and seems to be really flourishing—which you can tell from the pictures. I remember him as being such a smart little guy, and from what I have heard, he continues to be just that. Weighing 120 lbs, he’s probably more brains than brawn, but he looks decently sized and in my opinion has to be one of the most beautiful puppies we’ve had! His owner has always spoken of his loving attachment to her, and says he is such a happy and loving boy.

Gorgeous. Just gorgeous. bu1

And of course, the pool. Over the years we’ve owned saints we’ve always had a kiddie pool for them to cool off in when the weather required it.

bu4

Suma Lu–as her owners affectionately call her–seems to be doing really well too! At the end of September, she weighed 70 lbs, which is witness to the fact that she is going to be absolutely enormous. She is soooo pretty and from what her owners have said over the past seven months it sounds like she has the sweetest disposition and temperament! Her training has gone super well and she is especially good on the leash…one of her favorite pastimes is lying on the floor under her owner’s feet while she’s cooking—a trait she acquired from her daddy, since he does the same when we allow him inside! While she is a sweet girl, she is also a serious protector of the pack and her house….which also describes Bomber. I’m so glad she’s turned out to be such a beautiful dog and that she is doing so well in her new home, but….I really miss my Pokey girl.

bu5

bu6

bu8

This is so classic. And cute.

bu7

As for Goldie and Bomber, they are both doing great! Goldie is finally acting normally again…after she was in heat she exhibited signs of a false pregnancy…complete with the destruction of her dog bed in the attempt to make a nest for herself and her *coming puppies*. However, she’s finally pulling out of it. Bomber, of course, is the same old goof he always is.

Bomber was watching over Goldie as she was eating–it was really sweet! Yes, our barn is messy at the moment.

bu20

I’m so glad Goldie has fully grown her coat back: all through the summer she blew it out due to nursing and it didn’t start to grow back until around August. And just for the record she’s still as sweet and docile as ever!

bu9

I’ve noticed that Bomber is getting some grey and white around the black mask on his face…it makes me sad to think he’ll be four years old! I really love my big boy…

bu10

Thanks again for visiting! For all of those who have been emailing and asking about the date of the next litter, I plan on breeding her on her next heat, so hopefully around March or April. I still have a few more spots on my waiting list, so drop me a line if you’re interested in purchasing a puppy around then. I have a fun update coming up on Moe (known previously as Chub-Chub) that I’ll try to post in the next couple of weeks. Thanks so much!

Otis and Bristol~~~

Hi! I’ve received a couple more updates on some of the puppies from this last litter–Otis and Bristol, aka…..Badger and Muffin if I remember correctly! Keeping 20 puppies and their whereabouts, new names, families, and general info is not easy! But—I do remember these two so well. Otis was just the sweetest and most acquiescing little guy, and from what I hear, is still all that. As of the end of September, he weighed 78 lbs, is very energetic, and is the hearty protector of a one year old in his family. I believe you’ll agree with me when I say he’s definitely Goldie’s boy! Just look at that gorgeous, curly coat with its brilliant colors–Otis1

Yep. That’s Goldie all right. Same smile!

Otis2

Bristol looks like such a darling, and from what I hear, she is as smart as a whip. While she definitely has a good bit of Goldie in her, I can see a lot of Bomber in her markings. Her family says she’s a complete angel and her vet fully expects her to be around 200 lbs when she’s full grown. Right now, she’s weighing in at 72 lbs. We sure do miss our Muffy girl….I remember how interactive and quick she was!

I mean just look at that. Just look.

And a more recent photo will conclude the update on Bristol.

This fall has been beautiful here in Montana, and as my favorite season, I’ve been enjoying daily walks and can’t resist sharing a few photos I took this evening. Not that they do the gorgeous autumn scenery any justice tho!

Yep….my panoramic photo-taking capabilities leave a lot to be desired. You may laugh. But it was fun.

IMG_2089

It seems the deer have accepted my daily presence…in fact, three bucks ran right in front of me on the road tonight–of which I got a few photos, but they’re too fuzzy to post. Not worth it.

IMG_2090

I dread the photo shoots with Bomber….I’m afraid neither of us take a very good picture and this evening was especially difficult….we started out at the swing but as you can see he refused to cooperate–as usual. Basically, I can’t take a single picture of him unless I’m with him, generally on the ground, holding him. He’s just gets too excited and won’t sit still for the camera. Nope.

IMG_2060

So we ended up on the ground anyway….Bomber’s such a goof—but with plenty of good intentions!

IMG_2077

I’m still working on my waiting list for puppy-takers come next spring. So far I think I have 8-9. I have a hunch that she’ll have around 12-13 this time…which is a scary thought, but hey, one can never have too many puppies, can they? Let me know if you’re interested in providing one with a home and we can discuss it. Or, if you just want to shoot me an email or comment, I’d love to hear from you! Thanks so much for stopping by~~~Tess

Update on Scout

Hi, thanks for visiting! Today’s update is on Scout, whom I had previously named Jabba. Scout now resides in Wyoming where he is a service and companion dog–and from what I hear is doing an excellent job! He is best friends with a Doberman and some shelties. As of last month, he weighed in at 51 lbs, and his vet is estimating that he will be around 200 lbs once he is full grown….which doesn’t surprise me, since he was definitely one of the heftier puppies!  Scout spends his time camping and fishing and has fallen in love with his neighbor’s five month old grandson—I remember him as being extremely interactive and never missing a thing!

He is so stunning—looks just like his daddy.

I’m up to seven puppy-takers on my waiting list–if you are interested in purchasing a puppy sometime next spring, let me know. Goldie is currently in heat, and I will breed her on her next heat in around six months. Again, let me know if you have any questions or comments! Tess

Update on Gideon, AKA Baloo

Hi, thanks for stopping by the website! The next puppy update is on Gideon, previously known as Baloo. He went to a wonderful home in Birdseye, a short distance from where I live.   I received an email from his family in late July, which mentioned that at the time he was 45 lbs—but that was quite a few weeks ago. I imagine that  he is now around 50-55 lbs. From what I hear, he is doing well with his obedience training, which doesn’t surprise me because he was such a pleaser when I still had him. He’s been on family walks and even on a camping trip! It sounds as though his family is really enjoying him and from the pictures and the description I received he looks so happy! I am so glad he has gone to such a wonderful family.

Isn’t he gorgeous???? He is near perfect!

Update on Pokey, aka Suma!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. It’s been a while since I’ve posted an update, but here we are. I’m beginning a series of updates on the puppies from this last litter, beginning with Pokey, now known as Suma. Suma went to Sun Valley, Idaho, where she resides with her parents and her furry siblings. I hear she has many puppy friends, has gone on camping trips, and enjoys rolling in the mud and swimming in her pond, hence her nickname Pig Pen! I think she is now around 45 lbs, which doesn’t surprise me as she was one of the bigger pups—-her owners have taken to calling her Sumonster as a result! I still can’t get over how much she looks and acts like Bomber. Anyway, here she is! Enjoy her pics.

Bomber and me.  Bomberandme

Bomber and Goldie have been handling the heat very well. We have a small plastic pool that Bomber loves (Goldie hates any body of water larger than her drinking dish ever since I’ve given her a bath) and stands in the pool on days like today. Anyway, thanks for visiting. I hope to showcase a local puppy next, Baloo–now known has Gideon–who went to a great family in Birdseye. Thanks!! Tess

Short Update

Hi! Sorry for the long lapse of time between posts, but as can you imagine, things (puppies maybe?) have kept me trotting. I can’t believe how FAST the past eight weeks have gone! Maybe it’s because this litter of puppies has really behaved, as have Goldie and Bomber. It’s been such a privilege to provide so many great families with puppies—I’ve met so many people and have enjoyed the pleasure of introducing them to their new family members.

This past week we’ve said goodbye to the puppies and have let them go to their new homes. We have three left to send off: one will leave tomorrow, and the other two in the next week and a half. I think Goldie’s really beginning to feel the change; it seems she is continually looking them over and becoming confused at her lack of babies! She had a fun play session with them this evening, though. Here’s a couple of pictures I took this afternoon of Pokey (Bomber’s clone!). Pokey left for Sun Valley, Idaho this afternoon with a wonderful couple.

Choose your Puppy!!

Hi All, thanks for deciding to purchase a puppy! So excited to help you choose one. It’s still a little early to be able to tell for sure what their size, personality, coloring, and coats will be, since they are only a little over two weeks old, but I understand that you all are ready and waiting to pick one out. Please do not be overly concerned or worried about picking out the perfect puppy—their markings and temperaments are all similar at this point and there is little variation or differing among them. A few are a little faster than the others, while others have a small variation in size or weight. The overview of their personalities is definitely not set in stone—I have no idea if a lively puppy will slow down after a bit, or if a small puppy will gain weight and turn out to be larger than expected. For instance, the smallest female, at the time one of the smallest in  the litter, has turned out to be the largest one. Here they are in random order (and please pardon the quirky names! 😉 )

Zazzu is currently the largest puppy, weighing in at 3.4 lbs, which is interesting, since she was born on the smaller side. She’s my favorite of the puppies simply because of her doll-like nature and her sweet disposition. Slow and steady, she’s not rowdy or pushy like some of the others. I think she’s going to be a gentle, loving girl. She has darker coloring.

Muffin is similar to Zazzu, but her markings and coloring are much different. She isn’t so dark and weighs a little less at 3 lbs, but her temperament is just as sweet and steady. We know Muffin for the diamond on her back…I’m thinking she will have a coat like Bomber, since it’s more solid like his is. Muffin is a favorite among the family for her gentleness and mildness.

Muffin 1

Muffin 2

Muffin 3

Next is Chewbacca, who is definitely lighter colored and has interesting markings. Chewie is in the middle range for size at 3 lbs,  but he is certainly one of the smartest. He is fast and lively, and definitely has an excellent set of brains! I think he probably pretends to run the show….Chewie loves to be held, and is constantly sniffing for food. He’s definitely one of the more vocals puppies. He’s definitely going to be a gorgeous boy!

Chewie 1

Chewie 2

After Chewbacca is Jabba, who is actually pretty similar in markings and in temperament. He’s just as squirmy and opinionated, which is so cute. He’s an eye catcher because of his quirkyness and beautiful lighter coat. I love his pretty white shoulders that look like a cape, which makes me think that he will turn out to be like Bomber.  Jabba weighs 3 lbs, an average for this litter.

Pokey is probably the slowest and steadiest of all the puppies—she’s going to be just like her daddy, with her wide white blaze and lighter coat, not to mention the huge white shoulders! She weighs 3 lbs–like a few other of the pups.  She is simply a darling with a gentle disposition and a content and satisfied demeanor. We love our pokey girl and are sure she will find the perfect family!

Next is one of the largest puppies, Zelda. She was the first born and originally the largest puppy, but Zazzu has passed her by in weight. Zelda has such a fun, swirly coat, and is simply a beautiful girl! She’s a little more lively than the other girls, which makes me wonder if she’ll be more of an alpha dog. She has gotten a lot of handling, so she is so content to be held and cuddled. She would make a wonderful family dog–I can see she is going to be great with kids, just as Goldie is.

Next we have Chub Chub (again, pardon the names!) Chubs is one of the larger males, with a dark, pretty coat. His tummy is always round and full, which shows that he is satisfied to be nursing all the time! I really like holding him when I can, since he loves to be held and cuddled. He has beautiful dark swirls on his back, with what we thought looked like heart, along with a dark mask. He currently weighs 3.25 lbs, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out to be as big as Bomber is if not larger. He also has Bomber’s big white “mane.”

Chub Chub

Chubs 2

Chubs 3

Badger, the second born, is a lively little guy, like Zelda. He is much like the rest of the pups, except that he is not as slow as some of them. Badger has HUGE white shoulders, and is going to have Bomber’s mane. Thus, he’ll probably turn out to be more like Bomber. Badger’s weight is on the larger scale for the litter. Definitely has brains!

Little Bear is next. He is the smallest puppy, but most likely the smartest, not to mention the fastest and liveliest! He is such a fun little guy and definitely knows his mind. This puppy nearly didn’t make it when he was first born, but after watching him for the first few hours, and now weeks, I can see that he is a determined little fighter, full of spunk and spirit. He will make an excellent companion.

Baloo was one of the first puppies born, and is on the smaller side. He is going to be one beautiful dog, with his dark coat and spot on his left shoulder!  He is mostly dark with a white band across his rear, and is sure to be an eye catcher–with a perfect mask to boot. I haven’t spent much time analyzing his personality, but he seems to be easy going and pretty much happy go lucky. He’ll be a fun dog for sure.

Last but not least, we have Pugsley, named so because he is certainly a chunky pup! His coat is perhaps the lightest in the litter, full of interesting swirls. Currently, he is content to simply eat and sleep, which makes me think that he’ll be pretty gentle and easy going. Definitely a favorite in the litter. He weighs 3. 25 lbs.

There you have it! Again, these details are not set in stone, as these puppies still have a lot of developing to do. If you would like a video of a specific pup, or would like to schedule a time to come out and meet them, let me know. Email me as soon as you have chosen one, since this is a first come first serve basis.  Thanks so much and I will talk to you soon!

Puppies!!

Hi! We’re happy to announce the arrival of……11 puppies! Goldie gave birth yesterday to 8 males and 4 females, all now healthy and thriving. Unfortunately, the last puppy didn’t make it, but we are grateful for the 11 others that did. Goldie is doing well but is tired and worn out. I’m hoping that tomorrow she will have gained back some of her energy as well as her appetite, which has understandably diminished these last few days. Her labor lasted around seven hours, beginning at four in the afternoon and ending a little after one in the morning. It was a long night and long day full of laundry and feedings, so hopefully this will be a restful night for us all! We’re so happy that we have found perfect homes for these puppies, and I’m looking forward to helping Goldie raise them for the first eight weeks of their lives and to meeting their future owners. Thanks!! Tess

Puppies Soon to Come!

Hi! It looks as if the very end of Goldie’s pregnancy has arrived. Each day she becomes more and more distressed and anxious, with increased discomfort and varying temperatures. Hopefully before the week is out we will announce the birth of the litter. As I mentioned before, it looks as if this litter will be larger than her previous one, based on her bigger size alone—I’m thinking at least 10, if not 12 puppies, which is a perfectly normal-sized litter for St. Bernards. Thankfully, I have already found good homes for the puppies, so now we must simply play the waiting game! We’ve finished the whelping box, and Goldie has been spending her days sleeping and resting in front of a box fan.

This photo was taken at least a week ago, if not two:

Poor Goldie 3

Now, days later, you can clearly see how much larger she’s grown. Also, she has shed most of her fur on her tummy for easier nursing when the puppies arrive.

Poor Goldie 2

This has been pretty much her expression these last few days! Poor girl….
